Movement Pattern Assessment
Movement Pattern Assessment
This is all about performance. This is a service offered by Brandon Arbour MPT. Whether you are a weekend warrior or high level athlete, a focus on high quality, effective movement patterns is the foundation of improving your athletic performance. The better you move, the less likely you are to either pick up those annoying little injuries or experience a more serious athletic injury.
A movement pattern assessment will screen the movement tasks required for your sport. It will determine your ability to control the forces required, while maintaining the stability and mobility needed for performance. Think of this as movement efficiency, which can be broken into two parts. Part one of a more efficient movement allows for increased force production, or increased ability to control and transfer force. Part two is pairing this with improved biomechanics that are less likely to cause an acute injury or overuse over time. Following your assessment, an exercise or motor retraining program specific to you will be used to improve the way that you move. This often makes athletes feel significantly stronger in their performance as well as helps with preventing injuries.
At ADAPT your physiotherapist has extensive experience with a large variety of athletics, ranging from the recreational to national level, leading to an understanding of the movement demands of your particular sport and a reliable assessment of the quality of your movement. Specifically, your physiotherapist has extensive experience with athletes in soccer, hockey, field hockey, basketball, volleyball, distance running, olympic weight lifting, power lifting, swimming, golf, stand-up paddle boarding, skiing, snowboarding and stunt performance, among others.
